Will Smith to play Captain America????
This piece of news is pretty hard to swallow, but it is news. Now it’s not that I don’t like Will Smith, but Captain America? Come on! There’s really nothing more to say as you can read the entire story over at MTV.com. Let us know what you think of this one.

is this really an issue?….changin of race?….shouldn’t really matter…it wouldn’t be the first time…i mean, they did it to Jesus didn’t they…so a black or white (how about a brown or yellow) Capt. America shouldn’t matter as long as the character is believeable…..(though the fresh prince would suck as the Cap. in my opionion)….
If you want lousy scientologist actors to play important roles, then why not Kirstie Alley as Cap? Or do all you guys hate women, too? She’s a better actor than Tom Cruise or Travolting.
I am a Black male and I find it funny that there is a such thing as black roles and white roles. I am well aware of Capt. America being a blonde hair, blue eyed, military guy, but times have evolved. It should be the best actor for the role. Some of you might not be racist but you are stuck on stereotypes. Do any of you have a problem with a black man playing God in moviies even thought God is depicted as a white man majority of the time. How many of you found it akward that some movies had black men playing the presient before We had a black president in real life. Blacks and White are more similar then we think. Stop trying to push away different and embrace it. God Bless
i will not see it no way and i know alot of other people who will not put him in the cap uniform u will be shooting yourself in the head not the foot
Racism has absolutely nothing to do with this issue at all……..I like lots of black actors, but Will Smith sucks, bottom line, he already completely ruined one iconic character in James West in the absolutely horrible version of Wild, Wild West and has no business getting the chance to do it again…….Thank goodness the producers of Captain America had the good sense not to go ahead with this ill conceived idea…….I hope they make a Black Panther film and a Luke Cage film and Will Smith would not be good for either one of those either, plenty of quality black actors who could do those roles justice………

lets get that one cat from Fight or Duke from the whack @$$ G I Joe movie. or hell even some schlub from down the street would work. Its Cap, all the heads will watch it no matter who plays him. so lets go ahead and do it right.
The bottom line is that since the positioning of racial images is about money, Hollywood will always play to the racial stereotypes, making it the biggest supplier of global racism that exists. Whites will always be super heroes and the good guys while blacks are pimps, prostitutes, Asians will be under handed and sneaky, Hispanics stupid and dirty. And now after 911 Hollywood have Arabs and Muslims. Notice the Hollywood formula is really tilted toward the supremacy of White males, who get all the women under all circumstances; never die, go anywhere in the world and beat any culture at their own game. Yeah and Stan Lee does it also, I have been reading Marvel Comics ever since the 70’s and he also uses the same formula, because it is the American formula. It is so funny when white people say “I am not a racist but”, watch out for that but, why because the card has just been played. If you don’t believe me read about Walter A Plecker. Not only did he play the card he invented the game. Smart white boy that Plecker kinda rhymes with pecker hey I am not a racist but, ha, ha, ha Make that money

If you followed the comic books like I have, John Cena would be a great Cap…He fits into everything. SO all you people that are sayin Cena wouldn’t make a good Cap you so full of yourself
Will is a great actor in all the character he played but i dont think the costume of captain america will not suit him because the costume will only look good to a white guy ,blonde hair and blue eyes. try to imagine black guy in red,white and blue suit, not unless you will changed Will Smith appearance and turn him to a white guy, blonde hair and blue eyes. If they really want Will Smith in the avengers movie they should include hancock as one of the hero in the movie.

The first captain america was not black, he was just the first human guinea pig to test the serum on. U all need to get the fact of the comic straight. In the comic they used a black guy first to test the ss serum on a human subject, but that doesn’t mean he was the first captain america. Secondly, nick fury could be black or white, as he has been in the comics, so the role of samuel jackson as nick fury works. I remember when I was a kid, I watched a movie that had captain america in it and he was played by freakin eric roberts, and to be honest, id rather see will smith as cap than eric roberts. In my honest opinion, since captain america is set during wwII and it is 1941, they shud stick to the story s that would only be more realistic to the times. But if they’re bringin the story into todays times, and creating a soldier from somebody who was in say, the gulf war, why couldn’t they make cap black? As long as they make it believable and entertaining, ill watch. Whether captain america is black white whatever doesn’t matter.

All of my friends are afraid and have gone underground. They are elderly and do not want to be sterio typed as drug addicts and tried in kangaroo courts. They think they can go back to the old ways and it would be safer. They are hoping that the police will go after the young people and leave them alone.

I have a great one for all of you that want to sit here and say that we should change characters that are white and make them black because you are all so afraid of causing racist tendencies. I mean, why not these days? I think that the slogan goes like this…”We need to inject a little color into the role” Well from an artists point of view….black is defined as the absence of color….right?! So I have put together a list of upcoming movie character roles along with actors that can “pull it off.” And I beLIEve you will all be lining up for these very exciting roles. Cause they are great actors and all!

Why change characters that have been around for years just because it doesn’t suit your tastes or you wish the artist would have seen the vision for his character your way? Doesn’t the creator have a say in the casting of “HIS” creation? All of you and any of you that think this way should have respect for the artist that created the character or……MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF IT YOURSELF FIRST!!!
