whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought, “Nah, forget it. Yo Homes.. To Bel-Air!”

BAD IDEA!!! LET THE GUY WHO PLAYED THE PUNISHER BE CAPTIAN AMERICA!!!
November 10th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
The one person that would really be great for Captain America is James VanDerBeek. Think about it. He has the look, the “All American” quality, and he can pull off the right age for the character. As far as any flash back scenes to WWII – he could pull the look off. I’m not much of a fan of his, but as a fan of these comics and movies, he would be the sensible choice to play this character and would keep with the originality of the story line altogether.
November 10th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Does anybody remember Catwoman, Wild Wild West, The Honeymooners. They were all flops. Changing a characters race does not work! The audience does not accept it. There’s are plenty of black comic book characters to work from.
November 18th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Iron man the movie lost me right at the end after the credits who’s the moron that changed the race of Nick Fury “Nick Fury WAS NOT BLACK!!!!!” the original”S.H.E.I.L.D agent Nick Fury” movie cast Curt Russel as Nick Fury and he is the only right person to play the role of Nick Fury. Shaft as Nick Fury totaly ruined Iron Man! DONT CHANGE THE RACE OF THE CHARACTERS!! IT RUINS THE MOVIES. True comic book fans will catch the screwups and it will flop the movie. If you want to make a great movie based on a comic book READ THE COMICS and get your characters strait.
November 18th, 2008 at 11:49 am
Sorry I am just so angry about the blatant screwup of the movie it was not Kurt Russel it was David Hasselhoff and as it is in the comic books it is just a disquise for one mission for him to be black and he was ridiculed by another agent as it was his worst diquise ever.
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:10 pm
nick fury is black in ultimate avengers
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Generally speaking I would be offended about the comments made on this post about a black man playing the role of Captain America but being a huge comic book fan of this comic in particular I have to agree. I don’t want Will Smith in the role of Captain America either. I prefer when the movies are kept in line with the comics that they are supposed to represent. I just hope that they don’t muck up Thor.
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:20 am
Me you want to hear what I think? well I think Will Smith should not even be considered for the role because he is not the cap type and secondly he is black no freakin way should captain america be portrayed as a black man don’t get me wrong will is a good actor but thats like putting a black guy in as adolf hitler CAPTAIN AMERICA IS F—-NG WHITE WITH BLONDE HAIR BLUE EYES AND IT WILL I REPEAT IT WILL RUIN THE MOVIE IF THEY DO THIS!
December 17th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
If they put Will Smith in the movie HE should play Nick Fury, not some old guy who still thinks he can move. And they should also change the actor who plays hulk to wee man, just saying.
January 14th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
None of you guys have girl friends huh?
March 9th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
How about that guy on FAST AND FURIOUS, not Vin Diesel but the other guy!!! He just need to bulk up a bit, he has the blond hair already..??? I think he would fit the suite and the character really well
March 21st, 2009 at 6:15 pm
The best pic for captain america is Jon Cena, not Will Smith maybe for Luke Cage, but Jon Cena from WWE was pretty good in The Marine he has the classic Captain America build and will be the perfect choice, THOR; HHH for WWE but you really cant have some puny guys playing those guys it takes away from the effect of the chacters.
PASS THE WORD.
March 25th, 2009 at 12:22 am
i agree wit all of you guys…will smith..uhh who knows? theres tons of good actors that wants the shot!!! and you guys know they will get it.. like they have Colin farrel, LL cool J, kane from wwe,and anybody that wants a another big chance into the big screen… the point of all this it doesnt matter whos in the screen we all going to see it…
March 30th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Okay, 2 things:
1) Nick Fury IS black in The Ultimate Avengers & other story arcs in the Marvel-verse, as stated by Dave.
2) Will Smith is a good actor, but NOT Captain America… maybe as Black Panther, maybe even Luke Cage! That would be bad ass if Power Man were in the Avengers movie, but he CAN’t play Captain America because of the source material. I was always able to accept Fury as dual races, but ICONS CAN’T BE CHANGED!!! What if the Black Panther were changed to a white man?
March 30th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Oh, and HHH can’t be Thor, either. He doesn’t look it & he’s a HORRIBLE actor.
April 12th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
will smith as captain america umm no way ..as some one else said..you make Cap black may as well make Black Panther white and thor a skinny lil asian guy..its just wrong
May 3rd, 2009 at 4:33 pm
The fact that the guys is black seems to be a MAJOR sticking point with you people. Saying NO WAY he can’t do it because he’s black, and only because he’s black, but I’m not racist is exactly what racism is. BTW: I don’t think he should do it either, it’s changing something that doesn’t have to be change and by doing that it would change everything about the character. Making Cap black changes the whole idea of what Cap reperesented during WWII
May 5th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
I am truly shocked at the racial outrage expressed on these boards. Don’t worry, they won’t let Cap be anything but the ARYAN ideal you are all used to. It would be messed up to make Black Panther white, especially with the “Black” thing in the title and being the ruler of an African nation and all(Little bit different than Cap. A better response would be, “What if they made the Falcon white?”) However, I do not agree with Phazoule’s insulting crap about a white boy being “All-American” (really? That’s what All-American means?). Not to mention the first super-soldier was black. Even if you dont want to deal with any retconned stuff, I am truly shocked at the blatant racist outpouring on here. I do not wish to see Will Smith as Cap because it doesnt work as far as the type of actor Will is. I’m sure it could be pulled off with the right actor, regardless of race. Whites have played other races for decades, its not unheard of.
For decades, I believed that comic book readers were better than normal people because they were imaginative and open-minded, I have to say I have never been more sorry to be wrong.
-And Sam Jackson is AWESOME as Nick Fury! I agree with Eddie- some of you guys need girlfriends.
May 11th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
i think that Will Smith will be a good captain america, he is one of my favorite actors and i think he’ll do just fine as captain america
May 11th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
Lol yeah some of you guys are really racist, Will Smith could pull off an amazing Cap, but still, they should try to stick to the comic book, because during the WWII era, they did take a Caucasian male for the super soldier serum thing, but w/e
May 28th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
I agree with dion johnson…cena for cap..triple H for thor…
May 28th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Triple H wouldn’t be a good Thor? look at the guy..he has the classic norseman features….I think he’d be perfect…tho true his acting is a bit lame..but this is a COMIC book movie after all…
June 12th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
CENA and HHH would be good, but WWE couldnt keep their hands out of it then, Marvel needs to be left alone when doing these films. they know what the fans want to see.
June 12th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Hancock needs to stay out of the film
June 30th, 2009 at 7:11 am
Don. T, thank you for compairing Captain America to Hitler.
Amazed, there isn’t much racism here, just people wanting their white character played by a white actor. Its just like buying something out a a catalog, you’re expecting to get what the picture shows. Phazoule’s “insulting crap” was just saying an actor had All-American quality. Not “All-American = White”. Unless the black actor is really good at playing a white guy, it can’t be pulled off.
You people calling everyone else racist, you’re f***ing idiots.
Racism is the hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. Nobody is saying they hate black people.
July 10th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
i just can’t see Will Smith as captain America. He just doesn’t have the attitude. The Capt. was a military man who was a bit gunho and believed in following orders and the chain of command. Most of the parts will Smith has played revolved around going against the status quo. I dont think he can pull off being a team sort of guy.
btw why cant a white guy play black panther. Are there not white people living in African towns.
July 27th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
I just can’t see Will Smith playing Captain America, for the simple fact that Will is black and Captain America is white and always have been. Besides Capt. America is more of a stiff Military guy and ya know Will Smith personality is a little more upbeat cool guy. Even though he can act his ass off. And before someone calls me a racist, I’m black so throw that out the door. Just stick to the script… You don’t wanna make the creators angry…
August 5th, 2009 at 7:09 am
I’m black and I don’t see Will as Cap like most of you said maybe Black Panther
August 5th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
I think that Will Smith is a great actor but, you match an actor to a character, not a character to actor. If Captain America is a white man then you must not stray from the characteristics of the character. Assign a white man to the role and put Will Smith, a black man, to a black character. It’s as simple as that. Don’t make it an explosive racial issue. I’m black and I think you put black actors to black characters and white actors to white characters. Nick Fury I believe was white in the comic books but I’ve never read them so i’m not sure.
August 8th, 2009 at 6:31 am
Bruce Campbell for Captain America!!!!!
August 9th, 2009 at 5:02 am
I like to follow lines as well and I;m black however Jesus is portrayed as white as well as Moses. perhaps they have to change the image due to the change in culture . Remember Cap was created in a very bad time frame.
August 15th, 2009 at 10:37 pm
Change in culture? Maybe Captain America should a black man that is openly gay? How about instead of a shield he uses a purse? How about we rewrite everything ever made to make all the people with sticks up their butts happy?? That will maybe help the chips on your shoulders feel better. Maybe Santa should be black? His elves white?? Will that help racial tension? Breath in breath out…..The bible should be the next thing rewritten to match the “changes in culture”. I am not black or white. I am human as you all are should try to act towards each other. The eyes divide. Close them for a different perspective. It a comic book hero and a movie. Put the chips down, take the hands out of your pants and go out and enjoy the fresh air!! Oh yeah, no texting either…….Peace.
August 18th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
NO no no no no no no no. Will Smith as Captain America just wouldn’t work. I am a Will Smith fan but this is a terrible idea. I’m not sure I like the idea of someone like Brad Pitt either, but at least he could pull it off. I could see them getting someone like Channing Tatum…a young hollywood stud, but I would like to see a more polished actor than that. Since they casted a fairly new actor to play Thor we might see another relatively unknown to play Cap…I just couldn’t take Will Smith seriously as the leader of the Avengers.
August 21st, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Some very odd opinions but I had to say a few words about Samuel L Jackson playing Nick Fury. In issue 4 of the Ultimates Nick Fury is sat around with Hank Pym, Janet Von Dyne discussion if there were a movie, which actors they’d want to play them in a movie and Nick says Samuel L Jackson. So when I saw the end of the Iron Man movie I was punching the air. Perfect casting for Tony Stark and for Nick Fury. I just hope they keep an eye on the Ultimates when casting for the different avengers characters. But so far perfect in my opinion. For Captain America I would suggest someone who looks like he was plucked from the beaches of Normandy in 1944. No one immediately comes to mind but am thinking of watching Saving Private Ryan for inspiration.
September 6th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Ok in Marvels Ultimate Universe, Nick Fury is black or african american, I think alot of the movies that are marvel are being based off of the Ultimate Series, But Hell no Captain America should be played by a white hes been white for 70 plus years i hate when these aholes get in there and screw up something that had years in the making just like screwed up spider-man NICE JOB WITH THAT IDIOTS.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaiah_Bradley
this would be the cap will smith would be playing. All of you need to get your facts straight. The first person who they used a then experimental super soldier serum on was black Isaiah Bradley, because of the racism of the times it would make sense that they would experiment on blacks first instead of using it on the blonde-haired blue-eye Steve Rogers. also during ww2 cause the steve rogers cap was delayed and was not going to be able to help storm the beaches of normandy, they chose Isaiah Bradley on a “suicide mission” to infiltrate a secret lab where nazi scientist were attempting to duplicate the ss serum.
November 14th, 2009 at 2:41 am
I am sorry very sorry for us true Marvel fans! True comic book readers, I can not and will not agree with who ever it may be that thinks and sees nothing wrong with having Will Smith as Cap. As many here, this has nothing to do with being a racist, this has to do with sticking with the story. If they insist with Mr. Smith, they should use him for the testing of the ss, and KILL HIM right in the start of the film. Then bring Steve Rogers on boared. I am very excited of finally being able to watch these heros live on the big screen, but with this excitment, I also have such a fear that Hollywood has so much control over our heros and can do much in what they see fit.
I hate how Hollywood can destroy, trash, and break what can and is a great story in the comic book world. Look at DareDevil & Elecktra, I have never and will never watch these films. The actors where horrible! And What about the King Pin??? Why??? So would they use the same actor if they ever want to have K.P. in any Spidey movie? Is there anyone, someone who can really give our concerns to the hollywood big shots, the directors anyone who will keep the characters the way they should be. Does Stan the man Lee have any sayso in this? I truely hope they do not cast Will smith, because I will be very sad as I walk in to watch it on the screen. Are there any people on this that may want to walk on the front door of Marvel studios to be heard????
November 20th, 2009 at 10:14 am
Ur fukin racists
November 20th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Ohh no its not that he’s black oh yes it is u fucking racists
November 20th, 2009 at 10:33 am
Yea let let wwe fans pick cap anyone who says cena should be cap is a douchebag
The Marine was the worst movie in cinema history
if u racist idiots can get over your whitebred bs will smith makes sense
Next thing u know well have a black president or something
November 21st, 2009 at 1:59 am
the real problem wouldn’t be cap being a black man now. But iin the middle of ww2 cap was a leader of the allied powers in a way that no black person of the time could have achieved.the army was still segregated and had small entirely black platoons.
November 22nd, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Honestly i cant remember a film with Wil Smith that i didnt like. However i just dont see him pulling off a Super Soldier!
Even when he bulked up for iRobot he was still way too skinny to be cap. Sorry but if that is the final cast then i will be very disapointed.
December 17th, 2009 at 2:10 am
As a comic book reader of Captain America and Avengers please don’t change the race of the comic book hero. Captain America is a white dude and should stay that way. Make Will Smith the President of the United States I can live with that. I do like Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury because he is good actor. Now we get Will Smith’s son to ruin another good movie I grew up with, Karate Kid. All the remakes make me sick.
January 25th, 2010 at 9:42 am
Political correctness has destroyed many things. Let’s hope it doesn’t ruin these Marvel Movies. Tobey Maguire was an excellent Peter Parker. Robert Downey Jr, was my pic when I was 10 (I’m 31 now) for Tony Stark. I always knew he was the guy to play that role (I miss the red and white armor though). Has anyone said that Wesley Snipes would be a Great black Panther? He’s proven in Blade, he has the moves. Although since he’s been Blade already, maybe Blade will make an appearance. Will Smith as Cap, no thanks. He can’t bulk up enough to pull off Cap anyway. Maybe he can be Giant Man. Cena would be a good Cap (Ultimate Avengers style Cap), but he better take more acting lessons to increase his range. A good Thor (Who is playing Thor, anyway?) would be Eric, the Scandinavian Vampire from True Blood.
January 25th, 2010 at 9:52 am
Guys, it’s not racism to want something you’ve been loyal to your whole life to stay the same. What if Transformers 3 came out, and surprise surprise, they used Go-Bot’s instead of Transformers. People would flip out. I don’t want Leader 1, I want Optimus. I don’t want Cy-Kill, I want GALVATRON (that would be pimpin’). Also, I loved Hot Rod, hated Rodimus Prime. And if they DO, use Hot Rod in Transformers 3, they should use the same voice actor, Judd Nelson.
I want Cap the way he always has been, MY ENTIRE LIFE (except for that one Marvel Max, where they had a Black Super Soldier first, before Steve Rogers). I started reading Captain America in the 80′s near issue, 300 I believe. The Red Skull was in Washington, in a cloned body of Steve Rogers. I have good memories of that cap, and I want him to remain that way. Like in the Bloodstone series where Cap and Diamondback worked together. Will Crossbones make an appearance in the movie?
January 25th, 2010 at 9:54 am
Oh, and for all those people saying not wanting a black person to play Ca[tain America makes you a racist, how many people would have accepted Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) as Peter Parker in the Spider-man movies. Hollywood knew that would be a bad choice, so they went with a geeky, scrawny white boy. Good choice on that one, Hollywood. 2 thumbs up
February 2nd, 2010 at 8:44 am
For those mentioning race…the ORIGINAL Captain America was a black guy…read your history!! However I still think Will Smith would be a huge mistake. To me thats like Hallie Berry as Catwoman…not because of race but simply because it seems desperate. Don’t just grab a star for thrills, get a good actor and make a good movie. I hate when they try to get the star to sell the movie…this movie should be so good that it creates the star! Its Captain America for crying out loud.
February 2nd, 2010 at 8:59 am
Will Smith as a hero should be left at Hancock…black or white (ya’ll too sensitive by the way) Will Smith would not do. Even as an actual black hero in the MArvel universe I would not choose Will Smith. Give me Mike Jai White (Spawn) if anyone or find a new face! I’d love to see Triple H as Thor but no other Wrestler should be in the hero movies…too gimmicky. Give me Triple H and a well crafted storyline that makes me forget who he really is..show me that he can act and sell his character to me. I’m black and I could careless about the “racial” comments, I understand what people want and it has nothing to do with color, sell me a movie that I believe is real…trick me into believing I’m 8 again and holding my action figures while I watch and I will not think twice about the color of that person just like I didnt back then. If I think about the color, then it was probably a shitty movie to begin with…like DAredevil…Ha yep it was crap.
February 15th, 2010 at 6:57 am
is this really an issue?….changin of race?….shouldn’t really matter…it wouldn’t be the first time…i mean, they did it to Jesus didn’t they…so a black or white (how about a brown or yellow) Capt. America shouldn’t matter as long as the character is believeable…..(though the fresh prince would suck as the Cap. in my opionion)….
February 28th, 2010 at 5:03 am
If you want lousy scientologist actors to play important roles, then why not Kirstie Alley as Cap? Or do all you guys hate women, too? She’s a better actor than Tom Cruise or Travolting.
March 2nd, 2010 at 4:34 pm
I am a Black male and I find it funny that there is a such thing as black roles and white roles. I am well aware of Capt. America being a blonde hair, blue eyed, military guy, but times have evolved. It should be the best actor for the role. Some of you might not be racist but you are stuck on stereotypes. Do any of you have a problem with a black man playing God in moviies even thought God is depicted as a white man majority of the time. How many of you found it akward that some movies had black men playing the presient before We had a black president in real life. Blacks and White are more similar then we think. Stop trying to push away different and embrace it. God Bless
March 8th, 2010 at 3:52 am
i will not see it no way and i know alot of other people who will not put him in the cap uniform u will be shooting yourself in the head not the foot
April 14th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Racism has absolutely nothing to do with this issue at all……..I like lots of black actors, but Will Smith sucks, bottom line, he already completely ruined one iconic character in James West in the absolutely horrible version of Wild, Wild West and has no business getting the chance to do it again…….Thank goodness the producers of Captain America had the good sense not to go ahead with this ill conceived idea…….I hope they make a Black Panther film and a Luke Cage film and Will Smith would not be good for either one of those either, plenty of quality black actors who could do those roles justice………
April 21st, 2010 at 11:19 am
i like Will Smith, but come on man!
i wouldn’t even pick Will Smith for Luke Cage or Black Panther.
now Omar Epps could be Black Panther….or maybe a no name actor.
im fine with that plus they’re less likely to get a big head and refuse to do a sequel im not gonna mention any names (terrance howard) cuz im not like that.
lets get that one cat from Fight or Duke from the whack @$$ G I Joe movie. or hell even some schlub from down the street would work. Its Cap, all the heads will watch it no matter who plays him. so lets go ahead and do it right.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:50 am
The bottom line is that since the positioning of racial images is about money, Hollywood will always play to the racial stereotypes, making it the biggest supplier of global racism that exists. Whites will always be super heroes and the good guys while blacks are pimps, prostitutes, Asians will be under handed and sneaky, Hispanics stupid and dirty. And now after 911 Hollywood have Arabs and Muslims. Notice the Hollywood formula is really tilted toward the supremacy of White males, who get all the women under all circumstances; never die, go anywhere in the world and beat any culture at their own game. Yeah and Stan Lee does it also, I have been reading Marvel Comics ever since the 70’s and he also uses the same formula, because it is the American formula. It is so funny when white people say “I am not a racist but”, watch out for that but, why because the card has just been played. If you don’t believe me read about Walter A Plecker. Not only did he play the card he invented the game. Smart white boy that Plecker kinda rhymes with pecker hey I am not a racist but, ha, ha, ha Make that money
April 28th, 2010 at 8:30 pm
he could pull it off…i’d prefer someone white…and I’M BLACK.
just sayin…there are alot of other great options.but we all know WILL could pull it off.
May 4th, 2010 at 3:24 am
I agree with John. Let Thomas Jane be Captain America.
June 13th, 2010 at 3:41 am
how about John Cena as Captain America?
I would rather see Triple H as Thor and Bobby Lashey as the Black Pather
Those guys would be perfect for these parts.
I think Will Smith is a great actor, but not for the part of Captain America
June 13th, 2010 at 3:47 am
If you followed the comic books like I have, John Cena would be a great Cap…He fits into everything. SO all you people that are sayin Cena wouldn’t make a good Cap you so full of yourself
June 13th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Will is a great actor in all the character he played but i dont think the costume of captain america will not suit him because the costume will only look good to a white guy ,blonde hair and blue eyes. try to imagine black guy in red, white and blue suit, not unless you will changed Will Smith appearance and turn him to a white guy, blonde hair and blue eyes. If they really want Will Smith in the avengers movie they should include hancock as one of the hero in the movie.
