Jeremy Renner Might Still Be Hawkeye

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Jeremy Renner, who was lobbying for the part of Hawkeye/Clint Barton last fall, is close to signing a deal that could see him portraying the character in “The Avengers”.  Most people would know him from his Oscar nominated performance in “The Hurt Locker”, but he also turned in a great performance in “The Assasinsation of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” a few years back.  It looks like this is really close to happening, although THR did say that “Marvel did not confirm that Renner is in negotiations”.  So if anything, we’ll probably hear something more official closer to Comic-Con.
