New Marvel Superhero Cast? [UPDATE]

We got a tip from an inside source that Kevin Pennington, a former Abercrombie & Fitch model and up and coming actor, has been cast as a yet to be disclosed Marvel superhero.  He stated on his twitter;

Good news friends.. i signed my first film contract today and it’s going to be big. :-)

This could obviously mean anything, but a friend of his tweeted back.

so happy and excited for you bro! everyone say hello to one of the next marvel super heroes :)

There was also a tweet that has now been removed apologizing about  he can’t say anything until something is announced.  This is probably big casting.  Our source did some digging and found out that he is represented by the same agency that represents Chris Evans aka Captain America.  He thinks this could be a possible Hawkeye or X-men casting.  I lean towards the latter on this one considering how quickly they have to turn that movie around for next summer.  It could also be a surprise Spiderman casting since we haven’t gotten an announcement on that yet.  Below are all of our sources.  That’s him to the left.  Investigate.  Who is he going to be?  Please discuss.

UPDATE 5/10/10: We received word from an inside source this morning regarding Kevin Pennington and his new role in the Marvel universe, so here’s what we were told. (none of this is 100% confirmed so take it as you will)

  • He is signed with Marvel Studios.
  • He will NOT appear in Spider-Man or X-Men First Class.
  • Plans are for his character to be part of the Avengers films and other team-related films.
  • He will be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but also a fan favorite character from the comics (character’s origin may be changed to fit the movie and may never have been in S.H.I.E.L.D. or The Avengers in the comic books.

Hmm… he could be Hawkeye but I remember they wanted Jeremy Renner for that role – Kevin looks completely different… so he’s not similar at all. He could be in Cap’s movie as a soldier or he could be Ant Man or Mr. Marvel, since the Asian friend said “superhero”.

If in X-Men I am thinking he’s Havok (too bad since he would have been a perfect Bobby – they messed him up) or Ka Zar in his own movie. Maybe even Human Torch in the F4 reboot?

  2. MelbourneGirl says:

I wouldn’t mind seeing him in Ka Zar;s outfit… btw. lol

  3. ImmortalIronFist says:

I think Iron Fist with a possible cameo/role in an Avengers film.

If not than he is probably Ka-Zar

  4. Chris J says:

I’m hoping for a Hawkeye role for this guy.

  5. Ryan says:

I was hoping more people would be guessing at his role. I’m thinking Hawkeye, Iron Fist or Namor, but Hawkeye was a second gen Avenger, Iron Fist was a New Avenger, and making Namor an agent of Shield takes all the fun out of his land vs sea character. He could definitely be Captain Marvel if they decided to do a Kree Skrull Wars Avengers movie.

  6. Ryan says:

If you look into his actual tweet, he could be Hank Pym. Seems ironic though to cast a male model as one of earth’s smartest men.

  7. MrGoemeon says:

Nice update! I don’t think he’s playing Hank Pym because he doesn’t look very brainy… lol

I’m guessing Hawkeye or Iron Fist since it says he may have not been in SHIELD or Avengers. I don’t think either has been a SHIELD agent before… have they?

Now if somehow Marvel Studios has the rights to some of the mutants (ie they are making a Dazzler and Ka-Zar films) he could be any number of them…
