@Paine - So far they've pulled it off with "Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man." As long as the directors are CONSISTENT and actually talk to and work with each other like you mentioned, there wouldn't be much deviation or skewing.

I would like to see an episodic buildup rather than individual stories. The individual stories are being told right now with the individual movies. The Avengers movie as a whole should be one story involving all the characters, but tells the whole story in parts. Take a cue from Jackson and film a two or three (or four!) "episode" movie in one continuous (within reason) shoot. People sat through each 2.5+ hour Lord of the Rings movie, why wouldn't they sit through three 2+ hour Avengers movies released every month or so?

I think it would be cool to have all the movies come out in one summer. Waiting sucks but knowing that the next installment was only a couple of weeks away would make for an epic summer movie season. Yet, I like the movies in their 2 hours plus format. I think 90 minutes would shortchange the viewer. Furthermore, I would not like seeing different directors' different interpretations of characters destined to be on the screen together. Invariably, the movies will be somewhat different in terms of cinematography, style, etc., but I think the directors should still work together and share a common goal for all the films leading up to the Avengers. So, in reality, I think Letterier's vision has a few flaws in it.
