Scarlett Johansson Is Good

This post is hardly news, but I felt compelled to write about it.  Jon Favreau tweeted the below statement about Scarlett Johansson about an hour ago.

Scarlett kicked ass yesterday. All of her preparation has really paid off. She has a great work ethic. A real pro.

Ever since Emily Blunt had to pull out of the Black Widow role in Iron Man 2 due to other commitments, I was worried that Scarlett Johansson replacing her was going to be a distraction in the role.  Primarily because of her rising star and the Perez Hilton type of attention she gets.  Part of the first film’s appeal was due to the lack of super star power that we see in typical blockbusters and we all know how superhero sequels can get overcrowded with multiple villains / big name casting.  But Jon Favreau’s statement above got me really excited about her in the role.  He’s actually commented about her on set a few times and it’s all been really positive.  I do believe that we’re going to get a great follow up with Iron Man 2.    Again, I know this isn’t really news and I’m ranting.  I don’t know, maybe I’m excited it’s Friday.  Or maybe it just gives me an excuse to post pictures like the one above.  I don’t know…

I don’t think you need to be afraid of too much starpower. I thought the first one had its share of stars with the likes of Downey, Howard, and even a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson. A crowd of villains would not be good, but I can’t complain about a plethora of good actors.
