Thor Casting Rumors

A Lot of rumors have been going around about who Kenneth Brannagh has his eyes on to play Thor as well as the villain, his brother Loki. First, Alexander Skarsgård from True Blood was supposedly seen having lunch with Brannagh recently, which could be a good sign for him. Channing Tatum is also being looked at for the title role. These are the typical casting rumors in that they’re both on the list of people the studio, as well as Brannagh, are most likely looking at to play the part. This is usually how it goes with these types of films and nothing can be considered a sure thing.
So on to the villain of the story, Loki. According to IESB.net Josh Harnett is very interested in the role,
especially after seeing the attention that Heath Ledger received for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
“Word is Josh and his camp are really interested because he has never played a villain before and after Heath Ledger’s Oscar win for the latest comic book villain, Hartnett is intrigued by the character.”
I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot actors interested in comic book movies, especially villains, now that Heath was recognized for his performance. I just hope they’re taking original approaches to the roles and not just mimicking his dark and quirky portrayal. Anyway, I don’t mind Josh Hartnett but his consideration for the role makes me wonder how they’re approaching Loki in the film. It is good though to finally hear some decent casting news regarding this film as there has been very little. What do you guys think of these options?
