Iron Man 2 Actors Not Getting Paid Very Much?
We’ve been talking quite a bit about the possible addition of Mickey Rourke, and now Sam Rockwell, to the cast of Iron Man 2. We’ve also discussed quite a bit about certain actors departing from the second film such as Terrence Howard and Samuel L. Jackson. Well, Variety is reporting that Mickey Rourke has been offered only $250k to appear as the main villain in Iron Man 2. We already knew that Terrence Howard’s exit from the film was due to him being offered significantly less than he made on the first film. So basically studios are being hit by hard by the current economic crisis (no duh) which may in turn effect what caliber of actors we see in these movies. I’m assuming that if Mickey Rourke goes 2 for 2 as best actor for his performance in The Wrestler, $250k might not be enough to lock him into Iron Man 2. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
“Then there is comeback kid Mickey Rourke, who is poised to follow his Golden Globe-winning performance in “The Wrestler” with an offer to play the main villain in “Iron Man 2″ — but at a lowball opening offer of $250,000 from Marvel; Marvel’s tactics have already prompted Samuel L. Jackson to swear off playing Nick Fury because of a similarly low offer.”
