Iron Man is Sherlock Holmes

According to Variety, Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to play Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s take on the famous detective. Don’t get this confused with the other Sherlock Holmes movie that is set to star Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen in the leads as Holmes and Watson. This version of the film will be based on the classic tales as well as the Sherlock Holmes comic books. Production is set to start this October in order to beat the previously mentioned comedy.

I know this isn’t Avengers news, but Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man in my eyes, so I figured you guys would like to see what he’s got on his plate until Iron Man 2 and The Avengers comes out in 2010/11. Downey can be seen on the big screen soon in “Tropic Thunder” and then a little later in “The Soloist”.
