Sceenwriter Zak Penn Talks About CGI Avengers Movie

AvengersThis is actually old news, but interesting nonetheless. Zak Penn (Avengers screenwriter at the moment) was interviewed back in March about the direction he thought the film might take. Apparently the original idea was to make the movie all CGI, much like Beowulf and The Polar Express. As much as I would rather see a live action adaptation, this seems like it could still be a possibility. If they are planning on keeping the actors that currently occupy some of these roles (Robert Downey Jr., Ed Norton, Samuel L. Jackson), they’ll be getting up there in age by the time cameras start to role (most likely 2010). I for one don’t want to see these roles recast (Jackson maybe), but this makes the CGI version more of a possibility. What do you think?

I’m going to have to agree with jimpict on this one. I don’t want an all CGI version of the movie, i think it would be horrible. It’s not that I didn’t like Beowulf, it wasn’t great, but I didn’t hate it. I just feel this is the wrong type of film to do in that style. Hopefully they will realize that live action is the only way to go.

I don’t want to see this happen either, but you never know. The Justice League movie was at one time going to be CG as well, and that’s not even gonna happen at all now. Marvel has a really good thing going right now, I don’t think they’ll screw it up with CG Avengers.
